Set in a peaceful garden clearing bordered by the surrounding woodland reserve, Miniyaki’s Woodland Dining offers seating beneath overhanging beech trees or within our lantern-filled shelter, both looking out towards the trees beyond. As the sun lowers and the evening softens, fairy lights and lanterns glow gently, creating a quiet, intimate setting to enjoy good food, conversation, and a sense of escape just up the hill.

A monthly supper club dining
experience
Once a month, we invite you to step into our garden for an evening of unhurried dining, thoughtful food, and shared tables under the trees.
Miniyaki’s Woodland Dining is a booking-only, one-sitting experience, held between 6:30pm and 10pm, designed to slow the pace and allow the evening to unfold naturally. Guests are welcome to arrive from 6:30pm, settle in with friends, family and loved ones, and enjoy the changing light as the sun sets behind the trees of the surrounding nature reserve.
Tables are set throughout the garden and our covered seating area, including a large communal table suitable for shared dining and larger parties of up to fourteen. As daylight fades, the space is softly illuminated with warm lighting and Japanese chochin lanterns, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate, relaxed, and quietly special rather than formal. This is an evening designed to be enjoyed slowly, where food, conversation, and time move together.
At around 7:00pm, the evening is introduced and the menu begins its journey. Food is served gradually, table by table, over approximately one hour between 7:00 and 8:30pm, allowing each dish to be prepared with care and enjoyed without rush.
Miniyaki’s Woodland Dining is a ticketed event.
Tickets are £50 per person and include the full set menu and experience.
To keep things simple and ensure all bookings are confirmed, we now use Eventbrite for ticketed events.

The Menu
Miniyaki’s Woodland Dining is offered as a set menu, carefully composed and refined over time. While small seasonal changes may appear, the overall structure of the menu remains consistent, allowing us to focus on quality, balance, and intention.
On Arrival
Guests are welcomed with complimentary snacks already set on the table, offering a gentle beginning to the evening. Throughout the night, hot green tea is served and topped up freely, inviting moments to pause, refresh the palate, and settle into the slow rhythm of the experience.
Starter
The evening begins with a shared shōjin ryōri–inspired starter, rooted in Japanese temple cuisine. Calm, plant-based and seasonally led, this opening course is enjoyed by all guests and sets the tone for the evening.
Main Course
For the main course, the menu gently diverges.
Please select one option at the time of booking.
A) Sirloin Gyukatsu
Free-range sirloin steak, breaded and fried until crisp, served with a selection of salts & dipping sauce chosen to honour the natural flavour of the meat.
Served with Japanese rice, finely shredded cabbage and seasonal tsukemono pickles, enjoyed as palate cleansers between tastes.
Please note: our gyukatsu is cooked medium, as intended for this dish. As this is a set menu, doneness cannot be varied.
B) Seafood Tempura (Gluten-Free)
A composed tempura of white fish, scallops, squid & onion, lightly battered and fried until crisp.
Served with molded Japanese rice, finely shredded cabbage, seasonal tsukemono pickles and a selection of dipping salts & sauce.
C) Shojin Tempura (Vegan & Gluten-Free)
A generous selection of seasonal vegetables in a light, egg-free tempura batter, fried to order.
Inspired by shōjin ryōri, the Zen Buddhist approach to cooking, this dish avoids pungent ingredients such as onion, leek and garlic. By keeping flavours pure and unmasked, the natural character of each vegetable can be fully appreciated.
Served with moulded Japanese rice, finely shredded cabbage, seasonal tsukemono pickles and a selection of dipping salts & simple tsuyu.
Dessert
To finish, guests enjoy dessert, followed by complimentary hot green tea, which is served throughout the evening as part of the experience.
Please choose one dessert option at the time of booking:
-
Regular dessert (gluten-free)
-
Vegan dessert (gluten-free)

Weather Considerations
As this is an outdoor dining experience, in the event of heavy rain we may need to cancel or postpone the evening. Guests will be notified as early as possible should this be necessary.
We also recommend dressing appropriately for a woodland garden setting, particularly as temperatures can cool later in the evening.
Dog-Friendly Venue
Miniyaki’s Garden Supper takes place in our home garden, and well-behaved dogs are very welcome. We are fortunate to have a large, enclosed outdoor space where dogs may move freely, adding to the relaxed and informal nature of the evening.
Our own three dogs and resident cat are also very much part of the garden, and are likely to join in from time to time, contributing to the lived-in, home-from-home atmosphere that makes these evenings special.
As guest comfort is always our priority, we kindly ask that visiting dogs are friendly, calm, and supervised by their owners throughout the evening. We also politely request that any “presents” left behind are picked up and placed in the bins provided.
Cancellation Policy
Miniyaki’s Woodland Dining is a ticketed event with limited capacity. Each booking is carefully planned in advance to allow us to prepare the menu, seating and ingredients.
• Cancellations made more than 7 days before the event date are eligible for a full refund.
• Cancellations made within 7 days of the event are non-refundable, as we are unable to amend orders or replace tables at short notice.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel the evening due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, guests will be offered the choice of transferring their booking to a future date or receiving a full refund.
We appreciate your understanding, as this policy allows us to plan the evening carefully and deliver the best possible experience for all guests.
